With Elretur’s enviromental emblems, our members can highlight their Elretur membership.
The emblem documents that Elretur handles the company’s producer responsibility obligations, collecting WEEE and/or batteries on their behalf. At the same time, the enviromental emblems shows that the company has undertaken to report data to the authorities, required under the extended producer responsibility.
In other words, the enviromental emblems shows that the company takes responsibility for their products when they reach end-of-life. Through their membership, the company contributes to more and better recycling and reuse of electronics and battery waste.
For example, the enviromental emblems can be displayed on the company’s website, letterhead and email signature. The emblem is not a label.
It is important for Elretur to emphasise that companies can live up to their producer responsibility by being individually registered in the Danish Environmental Protection Agency’s register of producer responsibility (DPA-System) or by being registered through another producer organisation. These companies will not necessarily have a emblem as there is currently no industry-wide enviromental emblems. However, it is possible for consumers to check whether a company is registered as a producer on the webpage of Dansk Producentansvar.
If a company abuses the enviromental emblems, e.g. by using a description of the emblems meaning that is not true, Elretur may revoke the company’s right to use the emblem.
Easier to communicate about sustainability
To make it easier for our members to show and communicate their sustainability journey Elretur and have entered into a partnership with BeCause which is a digital platform that helps companies collect, coordinate and communicate their sustainability information. E.g. Global Goals, donations, certificates, certifications, awards. Everything gathered in one place and automatically displayed across channels, in the places and manner demanded by stakeholders. Through their membership, all Elretur members already meet their producer responsibility, and their figures for collection and recycling are reported to the Danish Environmental Protection Agency’s producer register via Danish Producer Responsibility (DPA).
Together with BeCause, we have launched a company-specific Elretur widget (widgets are small codes that can be added to your user interface – e.g. on your website – which display information without opening apps, and which are automatically updated when you update your profile), which all our members can download and use to display their sustainability and membership with Elretur. Thanks to this widget, you can easily show the figures for your CO2 savings and recycling.

As a member of Elretur, it doesn’t cost anything to make your membership visible via a profile on BeCause. For a small fee, the individual company can choose to expand their profile to include e.g. Global Goals, donations, certificates, certifications, awards. Batteries
The enviromental emblem with a battery also reveals that the company is a member of Elretur’s battery section.
Electronics
The enviromental emblem with a socket also reveals that the company is a member of one or more of Elretur’s WEEE sections.
The year indicates the year in which the enviromental emblem was issued. The emblem is issued in January. In special cases, however, Elretur also allows member companies to use a enviromental emblem without a specific year. This applies to cases where the certificate will be printed on a given material, so that the material with the emblem will not become obsolete. Companies are obliged to stop using the enviromental emblem if they opt out of Elretur.
PDF-certificate
In addition to the enviromental emblems, Elretur issues a PDF certificate to its members once a year. The certificate shows that the company has reported the necessary information about quantities of products marketed in the previous years and/or expected quantities marketed in the year in question. In addition, this shows that the company is registered in the Danish Producer Responsibility System (Dansk Producentansvar) until 31 March the following year, and has paid their environmental fee and any applicable taxes.
